How do I get rid of posion oak faster?

I have been using calamine lotion and I have not been itching it, yet it still seems to spread and is taking a long time to go away. I wash my hands constantly, because I am worried about my kids, but they are having no signs of it. Can someone offer any way of making this last shorter.
