A movie with Samuel L. Jackson?

OK, so I was flipping through the channels one day and I saw like 6 minutes' worth of this movie in which Samuel L. Jackson was talking to his mom and dad and they seemed pretty pissed he was there, cause (I'm guessing, from the way he looked) he was like, some type of scrub or crackhead. So he's acting all cracked out and his mom is crying and his dad shoots and kills him. What movie is that? It looks like something I'd like to watch the rest of.
