Is it illegal to take railroad spikes and bearings that are laying around by the railroad in La Crosse WI?

Same as above but I simply would like to know if it is legal to take the spikes that aren't in the tracks and bearings, as in the little that are perfect slingshot size. Like I said the spikes aren't in the tracks, they have come loose and are laying about on the sides, and same with the little steel /bearings. Please give me as much info as you know so I know that I won't get ticketed for taking them. Thank You...
