Question about fallout new vegas?

I have Boone as a follower and not realizing it, put lupus brain in Rex. Boone got all pissed off at me so I told Rex to part ways and go back to the lucky 38 so Boone would follow me again, but every time he gets close to me or I look at it it opens up dialogue. He says "what is it" and all the options to talk with him are regular things like, lets talk about tactics, or, lets trade equipment. is this a glitch?
